He lives with his son, daughter-in-law, two dogs and his wonderful granddaughters—to whom he has read a lot of children’s books. He is also a veteran of having delivered hundreds of children’s sermons in the churches he served. The illustrator, Brittany Koll, lives and creates in the sunny state of California. She has been creating and imagining as long as she can remember. She enjoys eating ice cream out of the container and drawing silly pictures.

It's Good to Be Me!! A Children's Book with Unique Features for Parents...

This book conveys a wonderful message to pre- and early readers: it's good to be who we are! The story engages young readers in the delight of the sounds of words through clever rhymes. The wonderful illustrations convey the story with humor, guaranteed to elicit little giggles. The conversation starters at the end provide a unique and excellent feature of this text. They enable parents to engage their children in conversation about the book on several levels. With all the recent emphasis on early literacy these days, this book is wonderful for helping parents improve their children's reading skills, not to mention the intimate experience of just sharing a good story with a child.

My 5-year old grandson loves to climb and jump. Often, when I read to him he is jumping on the bed. I know he is a capable reader, but he's never read to me. When I read this book to him, I stopped in the middle and informed him that I was too tired to continue. He stopped jumping, took the book from me and continued reading the rest of the book aloud. Once he'd completed the story, he went back to jumping as I posed the questions for discussion that followed the story. He answered them happily. It was a delightful experience for both of us!

Wonderful.

Like a hybrid of the "if you give a moose a muffin/mouse a cookie/pig a pancake" books and Dr. Suess books. I bought several to give as gifts. My 9 year old niece enjoyed reading to her 5 year old brother. They enjoyed the silliness, while contemplating the meaning behind the story line. Meaningful, silly, beautiful illustrations. Highly recommend for ages 10 and younger.

I still gave him this book to help in becoming a better and more educated person

My coworker told me about this book. You see, I have two brother in laws who curses all the time. I also have a brother who does also curses. I truly believe that people who feel a need to express themselves using curse words is uneducated and have no respect for he or herself or the person they are talking with. I gave this to one of my brother-in-laws for Father's Day. Although, I believe he finally realized how he sounds when using those words because he has made remarkable changes in his vocabulary, I still gave him this book to help in becoming a better and more educated person. Taming Your Tongue not only speaks about cursing, but also about complaining, gossiping, and other things we need to take note of when speaking. I bought four of these because I plan to give to my other brother-in-law for his birthday and my brother for his birthday. I also want to keep one for me. It never hurts to educate ourselves. You won't go wrong with purchasing this book and giving it to someone who feels a need to curse, complain, or talk about others.

Author is "real people"!

I was very pleased to "meet" the author of the book via this entertaining, informative DVD. Mrs. Pegues has an appealing, down to earth, humorous personality and adds enjoyment to the truths of this study. It was refreshing to hear from an author who has adopted pleasing The Lord as her goal. She points out her own faults, which serves to help the viewer realize their own shortcomings and admit them without shame.

The only disappointment I experienced with this DVD is that it did not cover more than 6 of the book's subjects.

There is some confusion concerning the topic of "The Critical Tongue" on the DVD. None of the 30 subjects in the book have the same title. I emailed a question about this to them, and they answered that the DVD's topic followed the book's discussion on "The judgmental Tongue". I found that the DVD topic was more likely a compilation of several of the books topics.

I would definitely recommend this DVD to the leader of a Bible study.

I can't believe how terrible my mouth is!

I bought this book initially in paperback form and as I began to read it I realized that the first tongue (the lying tongue) that she spoke of is one that most everyone is guilty of using. The more I read, the more I realized that my mouth is a dangerous thing that DEFINITELY needs taming. What I can appreciate more than anything in the book is how she relates each tongue that she spoke of to a story or verse in the bible which tells me that she has done her homework and just wasn't writing just to sell a book and has instilled in me that what we say is something that can't be reversed no matter how many apologies are repeated and that in order to please God, we need to be encouraging to each other and to ourselves in order to be pleasing in his sight. Now I have bought a kindle and have repurchased the book because I need to reread and focus on taming the tongues that I use quite frequently. I am thankful for any opportunity to improve myself. Thanks Mrs. Deborah Smith Pegues!

Very complete!

This is an extended version of Moo's "Encountering the Book of Romans." It provides more in-depth commentary and explanation. I found myself going back and forth between the two books.

excellent but out of print.

few volumes were written in the now defunct wycliffe exegetical commentary, and it is a darn shame. we're all familiar with douglas moo (conservative evangelical from trinity evangelical seminary) and this commentary is one of the best. in general the most respected volume on Romans is the one by cranfield (international critical commentary). another is that by fitzmyer. these two are written from a more academic position (if you didn't know fitzmyer was a catholic priest you might sometimes doubt his belief altogether). for those of us who are conservative but yet academically bent, this is the best, or rather was the best, longer than either cranfield or fitzmyer, and with more language analysis. i don't think moo ever finished the second volume; instead he redid both in his one volume commentary in the NICNT series. if you want to really study Romans ( and are more concerned with the text itself and less about interacting with liberal german scholars ), you would do well to find an old copy. by the way, no offense meant to fitzmyer!

There's a lot of books about the history of urbanism around there, but this one is one of the best, because, like other Benevolo's books, have a lot of photos and drawnings and less text, but maybe too less to someone who already studied about urbanism history. But because this it is so far the best introduction to the history of the formation of the cities, for architects or not.
